Many of you may already know about the passing on June 19, 2016 of Ken Arutunian, a former Barron Park neighbor, who designed Bol Park and was active for many years in the BPA and in many significant local issues. An article about him and how he moved a 2-story house to Matadero Ave. in 1968 is in the BPA Summer 2016 newsletter. We send condolences to his family and his friends.

We all want to be good stewards of our resources.  Zero Waste Palo Alto can help! Have questions about what goes where: black cart, green cart, blue cart? Would you like to borrow a “party pack” with reusable napkins, silverware, and plastic plates, cups, & bowls? (One party pack has enough for 24 place settings, but it is possible to borrow from multiple neighborhoods for larger events.) Want tips for reducing junk mail? Curious about how can you safely dispose of hazardous wastes or old prescriptions? For answers to these questions and many more, visit the Zero Waste Palo Alto website:http://www.cityofpaloalto.org/gov/depts/pwd/zerowaste/.
Or contact one of your neighborhood Zero Waste Block Leaders:

The next bi-monthly senior lunch will be a picnic in Bol Park at 1:00 pm with Driftwood Deli delivering box lunches consisting of a sandwich, chips, cookies, fruit and a drink, all for the low price of $10.  We are able to order ahead of time to pick our choice of the sandwich and drink.

We bring our own chairs and sit on level ground in a shady area and always enjoy the casual atmosphere of the park and sounds of the birds.

If you are interested in joining us, please either call Julie Spengler at 493-9151 or email  juliespengler@sbcglobal.net by Friday, June 10th, so we can make a name tag for you and place your order.

Hope to see many of you there.

Barron Park Association celebrated its first Holi Festival on March 26th, 2016. Over 200 people joined in a fun filled warm and sunny afternoon in appealing lush green surroundings of Bol Park to share vibrant colors, laughter and joy to welcome Spring!

Few of the comments we received from our contented visitors say it all:

“Very nice. It was amazing to play Holi in such a fun setting after so many years. Kudos to Barron Park organizing team and everyone else for their spirit”.

“Hello Baron Park community, thanks so much for organizing this Holi get together! We and all our friends and family I talked to thoroughly enjoyed Holi today. Everything was very well done from food to color distribution etc. Please continue involving other Palo Altans in the future years – We promise we will also assist you next time!”
