Barron Park’s Outdoor MOVIE NIGHT is in Bol Park is this Sunday, October 20th at 6:30pm
The movie is Disney’s “The BFG”
 
Bring Your Own Blankets and Picnic Dinner and drinks/water for a great BPA event!
The weather looks promising with a warm day and dry evening predicted!
The BPA will be selling Popcorn at Movie Night
Come and enjoy a unique neighborhood experience in Bol Park!

Ice Cream Social Beats the Heat!

Last Nights Free Ice Cream Social at Bol Park was a big hit and beat the heat! Over 200 scoops of ice cream were served to cool down Barron Park Residents!

Thanks to Karen and Amol Saxena for organizing the event and to the volunteers who scooped!  The neighborhood posters were provided by CopyFactory!  Lots of Fun and Socializing!

Barron Park Garba Dandiya Night

We are pleased to invite you with your family and friends to our first Garba event.

Garba is a folk dance from Gujarat state which is now enjoyed all over India as well as in different parts of the world. Men and women dress up in traditional colorful dresses and come out together for 9 consecutive nights during Navratri days in Autumn to celebrate the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur. The tenth day is celebrated as Dussehra and Diwali follows after a few weeks.

Garba folk dance is now adapted everywhere to celebrate communities and enjoy the harvest time and get into joyous spirits.

Garba can be both fast and slow-paced dance performed in circles. Women traditionally wear colorful ‘ghaghra-choli’ and men wear the ‘Kediyu (shirt) and the Kafni.

At times you might see a combination of both Garba and Dandiya (a dance performed with colorful sticks) during the Navratri days.

Garba dance steps are simple to follow and any newcomer can quickly get into the rhythm after observing a few moves. One can also find many videos and tutorials on Garba on YouTube.

Light refreshments will be served

Dance lessons prior to the start time.

Pre-Show Activities (6PM to 8PM)

  • Come see the Gunn Robotics Team demonstrate its award winning robots
  • Meet the donkey who starred in the Shrek movies
  • Have some refreshments

Main Feature (8PM to 10PM)

Before there were electronic drones and autonomous vehicles, there was the original flying car. It will be a fun community building evening and a great way to say goodbye to the summer.  We hope to see you there.

This year Barron Park celebrates the 40th Anniversary of May Fête!

  • Enjoy live music and dancers performing all afternoon

  • A community Maypole Dance at 2:30,

  • Wear ribbons!

  • Bring family, friends, and a blanket, and make a picnic of it,

  • Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Soft Drinks, and Snacks for purchase,

  • Active games and crafts for children, face painting, a three-legged race,

  • Our dear donkeys Perry and Jenny on parade,

  • Barron Park history exhibit,

  • and more!
